Nouvelle vie en Février !!

Je sais, je sais... Blog a l´abandon... comme beaucoup de choses en ce moment dans ma vie! Mais c´est pour la bonne cause, celle du travail! Et nan, je ne suis pas Sarkozyste et donc je ne travaille pas plus pour gagner plus... Et oui, je bosse car j´aime mon job et je sauve le monde Moa Mossieur!! Just kidding... Bref, a force de travailler jours et nuits - et weekends - depuis des semaines, ca a fini par payer :

Je suis embauchée a la Banque Mondiale !!

Non, non, pas comme jusqu´a maintenant, vraiment embauchée! Avec un contrat de deux ans, un  salaire digne de ce nom, des benefits (sécu, retraite, etc.) et le supreme privilege de faire partie du STAFF de la Banque :)

Tout ca pour faire quoi ? Junior Professional Associate, c´est le type de contrat. Project Coordinator, ce serait sans doute le plus approchant en terme de titre. Le tout pour travailler sur la lutte contre la désertification en Afrique, la gestion durable des terres et le changement climatique.

Donc pour résumer, nous squattons Gaithersburg jusqu´en 2010!!

Donc par ailleurs, je quitte USGBC vendredi...

Cette association va sacrément me manquer, surtout son staff exceptionnel... Mais il faut parfois faire des choix dans la vie... Donc je commence a plier bagages, a boucler mes affaires, a trier et ranger pour laisser un dossier ¨Flo¨ pas trop fouilli a mon Tom de boss. Et comme c´est l´usage a USGBC, en partant, c´est Happy Hour (organisée vendredi soir par mon boss) et petit mail de départ... Voici le mien. Désolée pour les ¨only French speakers¨ (je sais Pernelle, je sais..) mais je n´ai absolument pas le temps de traduire.

Chers collègues USGBCiens,

I thought it would be easier to write this email in French but then, many of you wouldn’t have had a clue of what I was saying… So I’ll try in English!

I will be leaving USGBC on February 1^st to move back to France. Just kidding… I’ll stay in D.C. for quite a while. As you know – or maybe not – I’ve been working part time at USGBC since October, actually since the World Bank offered me a part-time position. And now that the World Bank is offering me a full-time position as a Junior Professional Associate (to work on Climate Change and Sustainable land Management in Sub-Saharan Africa), I have to choose… Sorry guys, but I picked the World Bank.

I can’t really say that the choice has been difficult – I’ve learned that, in this country, a full-time contract with benefits, a great salary and a decent visa is an opportunity you can’t miss when you are qualified as an “alien” by the American administration… But still, I am sad to leave USGBC because this is a great place to work at. I met great people (this includes your patience with my English, thanks all!), who are doing a great job, for a great cause, in a great LEED building!

I want to express how grateful I am for the time I have spent here and how much I will miss being part of this team. I am glad I’ve worked in an organization where everyone believes we can make a real difference and does everything possible to achieve common goals. I am glad I’ve worked in an organization where I’ve been laughing almost everyday reading all-staff emails (we have a great amount of clever people at the World Bank but they are definitely not hired for their sense of humor :). And I definitely thank you for giving her chance to a French “alien” and for finally allowing her to go from sales associate on M Street to junior associate at the World Bank (which is sensibly different even if it is an associate position…).

Coucou, ton blog est nommé dans "notre" cérémonie de remise des BLOGoS d'Or que l'on a organisé.

Now you see why we are so fat - it increases our gravitational pull! Those slender Europeans are inextricably drawn to our shores, unable to return....

Comme on dit, tout ce dur travail a fini par payer. Tu peux etre fiere de toi et... je ne suis pas mecontente d'avoir maintenant un delai supplementaire pour venir te voir... (non, non, je n'oublie pas !!)
